On behalf of the City of Taneytown, I invite you to visit our wonderful community by touring our website or visiting us in person.

We are a village of approximately 7,200 residents, uniquely situated between Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., and minutes away from historical sites such as the Gettysburg and Antietam Battlefields. We are very proud to be honored as a designated Civil War Heritage Trail tourism stop, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a National and Maryland Main Street along with the home of the internationally renowned Antrim 1844, Country House Hotel.

Established in 1754, we are a community that is rich in preserving our heritage and take pride in our community partnerships in concert with organizations, residents, and businesses alike. That is why we are known as a “Small Town with a Big Heart”.
